House of the Dragon explores the story of a civil war that ripped Westeros apart almost 200 years prior to the events of Game of Thrones. The HBO and Sky prequel has been in the works for the past couple of years and now it’s almost time to see the highly anticipated fantasy drama brought to life at last. Express.co.uk has everything there is to know about watching House of the Dragon.
What time will House of the Dragon come out?
Game of Thrones may have ended three years ago but the series remains one of the all-time most watched with a dedicated global following.
For those who can’t get enough of George R R Martin’s world, there is now the prequel drama to get excited about.
House of the Dragon will premiere on Sunday, August 21, on HBO in America and the next day, Monday, August 22, on Sky Atlantic and NOW streaming service in the UK.
The time at which the series will make its debut does depend on where you are watching in the world.
If you’ll be watching House of the Dragon in America via HBO, then you will be able to watch the prequel from Sunday, August 21, at 9pm ET.
Once an episode comes out, it will then also be available on its streaming service HBO Max.
Meanwhile, UK fans have a few options as superfans could watch the prequel at the same moment its out in America.
So when House of the Dragon is airing on HBO in the States, it will also be airing on Sky Atlantic at 2am BST.
If you’re not willing to wait up until the early hours of the morning, then there is no need to worry.
This same episode will be repeated at 9pm that same day on Sky Atlantic as well as released on streaming service NOW.
House of the Dragon consists of 10 episodes in total with a new instalment coming out every week in the same time slot.
Few details have come out regarding what to expect from the series, bar the fact the first two episodes are going to be called The Heirs of the Dragon and The Rogue Prince.

The prequel will follow the story of King Viserys I Targaryen (played by Paddy Considine) who sits upon the Iron Throne but with various figures desperate to be his successor.
Some of which include his conniving brother Prince Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), his ambitious daughter Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen (Milly Alcock) as well as the Hand of the King Ser Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans).
But who is going to be successful and what are they willing to do to get to the crown?
Despite the excitement surrounding the prequel, author Martin was “apprehensive” about a new team taking charge.
Martin explained: “I’m excited. It’s always a little apprehensive when you turn your baby over to foster parents, but I am involved in this. It’s great to have Ryan [Condal], a great writer, and someone who really knew my world. He’s going to do his best to remain faithful to it.
“I knew Miguel Sapochnik was an amazing director. He won an Emmy and directed some of our best episodes [of Game of Thrones].
“There is always a little suspense to ‘how good is it going to be?’ But I think I am in good hands with Ryan and Miguel.”
House of the Dragon premieres on Sunday, August 21 on HBO in America and Monday, August 22 on Sky Atlantic and NOW streaming service in the UK.
