One of the outfits that Cate recommends people avoid, is a high contrast outfit.
An example of this style of look is contrasting a light colour with a dark colour – for example, a white top and a black skirt, or white jeans with a black top.
Cate showed some pictures of her throughout the years, wearing such high contrast outfits, as she explained: “The twelfth thing that I will never, ever, wear again, are high contrast outfits.
“Taking so many photos has really allowed me to pick apart my fashion and see what works and what doesn’t and I think wearing this look on my last trip was the final straw that broke the camel’s back.

“It finally clicked in my head that when I wear outfits that are really broken up, it just doesn’t work for me.”
Cate explained that wearing such looks will make you look shorter and will not do much to show off your features.

She continued: “I’m 5’4, it really breaks up my height, it makes me look shorter.
“Also I’m a low-contrast individual, I don’t have a lot of contrast in my features, so having a lot of contrast in my outfit overpowers me.
“It doesn’t really matter what silhouette I go for, this look doesn’t suit me, even if it’s reversed.”
The fashionista then showed off some more recent outfits of hers, looks that are much more well-matched – for example a white shirt with beige jeans and a cream jumper and white trousers.
Cate explained: “But when I wear pieces that are similar in value, suits me better, it looks more intentional.”
Cate’s video has clearly impressed many as it has racked up a whopping 473.7k views.
It has 37.8k likes, 354 comments and 173 shares.
Fashion fans completely agreed with Cate’s top tip and found it very useful, taking to the comments to express this.
One person said: “Oh damn you're right! Now that I think about it, the outfits I feel best in have always been low contrast.”
Another added: “Well this just hit me like a ton of bricks. I never even thought about the contrast level in my outfits but you're 100% correct.”
